Aaron Wong, Director of Mentorship, attends Winston Churchill High School. His musical journey started with the piano, but once he was introduced to the clarinet in 4th grade, he knew it would be his lifelong companion. Throughout his career, Aaron has been selected for the Maryland All-State Band/Orchestra and Montgomery County Honor Bands for five successive seasons, Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO) for 3 successive seasons, and Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra (PVYO) for 5 successive seasons. Notably, he was principal of the Maryland All-State Orchestra, Montgomery County Senior Band, MCYO Young Artists, and PVYO Symphony. This past season (2019-2020), Aaron was co-principal of the MCYO Philharmonic. He also placed third in the Sidney Forrest Clarinet Competition in 2018. As a musician passionate about impacting others, Aaron has gathered groups of friends to cook and perform at various women's and men's shelters around Montgomery County. He has also initiated opportunities for free private lessons for young students eager to improve on the clarinet. In his free time, Aaron loves to listen to symphony orchestra performances and exercise through running, basketball, and hiking. By using his empathetic personality and musical experience, Aaron wishes to guide musicians during their musical journey and help them become role models for their generation.
