Gabriella Cariddo, the Director of Outreach, attends the Special Music School in Manhattan, New York City. Gabriella began her musical journey on the cello, studying under Mildred Zitt. For many years, she was a cellist in the Toms River Multigenerational Orchestra and participated in yearly examinations at the American String Teachers Association. However, when she was eleven years old she decided to switch her focus to practicing the piano. Since then, Gabriella won Gold in the Golden Key International Music Competition and made her debut at Carnegie Hall in 2018 on the piano. The following year she was accepted into Mannes College’s pre-college division, where she studied under Gena Raps. She has attended numerous music festivals, including Rowan University’s string camp, the Philadelphia International Music Festival where she studied under Svetlana Smolina, the International Music Festival in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana in Italy, and the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria, where she studied under Ya-Fei Chuang. Today, Gabriella is a piano major at a performing arts high school called Special Music School. Special Music School is located behind Lincoln Center and has a unique partnership with Kaufman Music Center, making it the only public school in New York City that teaches music as a core subject. Gabriella is passionate about musicology and hopes to pursue a career in teaching music history. Outside of music, she enjoys reading, writing, exercising, and drinking bubble tea.
