Isabella Tang
Isabella Tang, president of MelodeeBee Music, attends Montgomery Blair High School Magnet Program. She started her musical experience on piano and later chose to learn flute when joining her elementary school band. Since then, she has strengthened her interest and passion for music, organizing community events for a group of student musicians to perform for senior living homes. Isabella has auditioned and been selected to the Montgomery All-County Honors Bands as well as the Maryland All-State Honors Bands for three consecutive years since 2017. She has participated in the Potomac Valley Youth Orchestras for 4 seasons (2016-2020) up to the Philharmonic in addition to playing in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras for 2 seasons (2018-2020), previously serving as principal flute in the symphony orchestra. In addition to being accepted to Interlochen, Isabella has attended the summer music programs at Idyllwild and Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF). Outside of band and orchestra, she has had experience with solo performance and chamber including flute duets, wind quartets, and wind quintets. Isabella served as principal flute for the Carnegie Hall Honors Performance Series in 2018, won first prize in the Flute Society of Washington (FSW) student honors competition in 2019, and is scheduled to perform as a soloist at Carnegie Hall in December 2020. On piano, she has earned the Advanced Bach Plaque and Paderewski Gold Medal from the American College of Musicians among numerous other cash prizes. In addition to playing music, she has completed all the levels of the MSMTA music theory tests, passing with honor scores. Isabella hopes to share her enthusiasm for music, inspiring new interests in younger students and guiding them through their journey using the experiences she has had.
